Erickson Shines Against Bowling Green on Friday

Dayton, Ohio – Abby Erickson hit .556 with no errors and added a team best five blocks, but a shorthanded UMBC Volleyball team fell to MAC power Bowling Green (25-21, 27-25, 25-18) on Friday afternoon at Wright State.

Erickson finished with five kills in nine attacks, and her five blocks tied with Mila Ilieva for the team lead.

Senior Mia Bulisic and freshman Hannah Dobbs paced the offense with seven kills each, while libero Aysia Miller had 12 digs as she returned from injury to make her first appearance of the season 

Freshman Izzy Ostvig and junior Serin Maden had 11 assists each, and freshman Claudia Llamas had a solid game as she finished with five kills, six digs, four blocks and an ace.

Ilieva tied a career high with four aces, while freshman Jada James added a career-best three aces of her own.

The Retrievers will be back in action on Saturday as they play host Wright State at 6 pm.
