Lowell, Mass. -- The UMBC Men's Lacrosse team scored four time in the first 4:16 of the contest, and never looked back en route to a convincing 21-5 win at UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first time UMBC (4-4, 3-1 AE) eclipsed 20 goals in a contest since a 20-11 win against Vermont in 2007. It was the most goals the Retrievers have scored since scoring 22 in a win over Radford in 1997.

Allen Hockenberry and Josh Tang each collected hat tricks, while Mike Doughty tallied two goals and four assists. Jayson Tingue made nine saves to pick up the win. 

How it Happened:

• UMBC went up 4-0 early on a pair of goals by Dane Hall, and scores from Brian Tregoning and Hockenberry
• Tang and Jordan Galloway scored to make it 6-0 just over ten minutes in before the hosts scored twice
• Doughty scored twice and Tang and Galloway also tallied markers in a 4-1 second quarter to give the Dawgs an 11-3 halftime lead
• Kyle Hoff and Ethan Robinson both scored to open the second half, and Trey Fleece then scored two goals to make it a 15-4 game after three
• In the fourth, both Hockenberry and Tyler Barnett scored a pair, while Kevin Doughty found the back of the cage and Zach Coyle scored his first career goal.
• Brendan Kennedy had three caused turnovers, while Mike Doughty had seven ground balls, Fleece added five and Dante Marinello had four
• Alex Steers won 15-of-23 faceoffs, and Justin Webber entered late and won 5-of-7

The Retrievers travel to Binghamton next weekend.
