Seven Men's Swimmers Amass 91 Points on Day One at CSCAA National Invitational Championships

 Ocala, Fla. – A UMBC contingent of seven men's swimmers racked up 91 points on the first day of competition in the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. The Retrievers are currently ninth out of 35 teams competing.
  • Junior Oliver Gassmann edged a pair of TCU swimmers and earned silver in the 50 yard butterfly. The Horned Frogs lead the standings with 257 points.  
  • Senior Dani Nicusan earned bronze in the 50 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 21.88 and shaving 0.36 seconds off his preliminary time. He came back to reach the A finals of the 50 yard breaststroke and finished sixth with a mark of 24.47, picking up 33 points on the night.  
  • The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team placed seventh of 23 teams. Gassmann, Christian Coleman, Nicusan and Bode Neale posted a mark of 1:20.20.
The competition continues on Friday and Saturday in Ocala.
