Max Lorca-Lloyd with 1:55 left.
The Black Bears (12-15, 4-8 AE) responded with five consecutive points to take a 59-54 edge with thirty seconds remaining. Forward Peter Filipovity (team-high 13 points) made a pair of free throws and then splashed a trey from the left wing to provide the hosts with the scoring.
Brown scored inside the paint to bring the Retrievers within three points before Filipovity made one-of-two from the charity stripe to make it 60-56 with 16 ticks left.
The Retrievers misfired on three shots in the closing seconds before freshman forward

The visitors held Maine to just 18.6 percent from the floor in the opening half as the Black Bears went just 6-for-32, including 1-of-10 from deep.
