BALTIMORE --
Jordon Lewis scored a team-high 19 points to lead a school record six Retrievers in double-figures as the UMBC Women's Basketball team defeated visiting Morgan State, 81-72, on Sunday afternoon at The Peake.

Lewis shot 6-of-7 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line (hitting her final seven attempts). The Retrievers hit 32-of-37 free throws (86.5%), led by Davis' 10-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe.
The 81 points marks the most by UMBC against a Division 1 opponent in its last 20 D1 contests, having last eclipsed 80 points in an 85-53 win over Saint Francis on 12/29/23.
How it Happened:
- Jordon Lewis scored 8 straight points for UMBC as the hosts took an early 12-0 lead.
- Both teams went back and forth before Yánez hit the first three of the game to make it 17-7 UMBC.
- Morgan State went on a run to close the frame as the Retriever lead was only 22-16 after the first ten minutes
- The Lady Bears opened the second with 6-0 run to tie the game 22-22, before Walker made a layup to restore the UMBC leads
- The teams would go back-and forth until Morgan State made a three with 0:16 left of the first half to take a one point lead at 35-34 into the half.
- The visitors started off the second half well, taking a 45-38 midway through the third
- The Retrievers would then catch fire, ending the quarter on an 18-7  run, capped by a pair of Bellamy free throws to take a 54-52 lead going into the fourth quarter.
- After Morgan State made a layup and free throw to put the guests up one, Lewis made a jumper to take the lead back for good at 56-55
- The Retrievers eventually went on a 6-0 run to extend the lead to nine at 66-57 with five minutes to go
- Morgan State went on a 5-0 run in response to make it 66-62
- After a UMBC timeout, Yánez hit a huge three to make it 69-62 UMBC with 2:56 left.
- The Lady Bears would answer with a traditional three-point play, but UMBC would hit four straight free throws to extend the lead back to seven
- The Dawgs put the game away with a Yánez layup with 90 seconds left to make it 75-66.
- UMBC would hit all six of their free throws to ice the game
The Retrievers return to action this Wednesday when they host American at 6:30 p.m.
