BALTIMORE - The host UMBC men's basketball team scored the first 20 points of the contest and cruised to a 120-61 victory against the Valley Forge Patriots on Monday evening at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.

Graduate student forward Josh Odunowo (12 points, 5 boards), senior JC Harris (career-high 12 points), and senior Devan Sapp (11 points) were also in double-figures.

Senior guard Marcus Banks Jr. tied a career-best with 10 caroms, and added five assists, while senior guard Marlon Short dished a UMBC career-high six assists in a starting role.

UMBC scored 60 points in each half and finished 48-of-81 overall from the floor for a 59.3 percent rate. The Retrievers dominated the paint as they were a +30 on the boards (55-25) and outscored the visitors by a 60-28 count in the paint. The Dawgs also forced 31 turnovers and held the Patriots to a 34.9 percent clip (22-for-63) from the floor.
