Sophomore Lexi Tepper was the top performer for the UMBC Women's Cross Country squad, finishing in the top dozen of thirty-five teams at Lehigh's Paul Short Run, at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
Tepper concluded her afternoon rising four spots through the final mile of her 6k to come in at 21:20.8, placing 4th overall. Juniors Lily Strelecki and Lyna Beraich rounded out the top one hundred placements for the Retrievers, with Strelecki coming in at 43rd overall with a time of 22:38.3 and Beraich earning 55th overall with a time of 22:45.3.
Of the 374 competitors in the Paul Short Run Gold race, other performances of note included freshman Katie Schwaner (134th, 23:28.4) and sophomore Katelyn Deal (145th, 23:35.9). Senior Judy McLaughlin and first-year students Lydia Nelson along with Liesl McMullen round out scoring for the Retrievers.
America East foe New Hampshire won the event by outperforming fellow conference rivals Vermont (5th) and local competition Loyola MD (9th). UMBC is scheduled to compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., on Friday, Oct. 18.
