Maden Leads Volleyball in Sweep of Binghamton

BALTIMORE — Junior setter Serin Maden tied her career-high with 17 digs in a double-double performance as the UMBC Volleyball team swept America East rivals Binghamton (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) on Friday night at The Peake.

Maden added 14 assists to lead three Retrievers with double-digit assists, as Izzy Ostvig (14) and Aysia Miller (12) also reached the mark.

Senior Mia Bilusic continued her hot streak, finishing with a game-high 19 kills, six digs, two aces, and one block. 

Senior Mila Ilieva had match-best seven blocks kills and four kills, helping the Retrievers out-block the Bearcats by four. 

Graduate student Abby Erickson and freshman Hannah Dobbs each also tallied four blocks, while Ostvig and sophomore Helen Frankovich had three blocks each.

Erickson finished the game hitting .625 with five kills and no errors, while Frankovich notched seven kills, three digs, and one assist. 

Miller marked nine digs, while redshirt freshman Jada James had eight digs and three aces. 

Sophomore Hannah Howard tallied four digs and an assist in the contest. 

The Retrievers come back this Sunday as they host UAlbany at 1 pm in their annual Pink Match.
