Seniors Lead the Way in Intrastate Victories

UMBC Swimming & Diving Honored 11 seniors before the team defeated two in-state foes.

BALTIMORE – UMBC seniors led the way on Senior Day as the Retrievers cruised to victory over Salisbury University and Frostburg State.
On the women's side, senior Nyah Stahl captured both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke and classmate Makaela Hill added a victory in the 100 freestyle.

Senior Daniel Nicusan cruised to victory in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke to pace the men. Classmate Bode Neale duplicated Hill's feat and won the 100 freestyle.

The women defeated Salisbury, 148-57 and Frostburg State, 162-43, while the men triumphed over the Seagulls, 149-56 and the Bobcats, 155-50.

"This was a great way to start the second half of the season and our charge towards America East," said Head Coach Matt Donovan. "The coaches are all very happy with how we performed today and are excited for another great week of practice leading into our final regular season meet."
The teams opened and closed the meet by winning the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays.
Notes:
  • Freshman Nick Bracall won a pair of events for the first time in his career, posting victories in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles.
  • Junior JJ Chapman edged the competition and won the 200 individual medley.
