BALTIMORE – UMBC seniors led the way on Senior Day as the Retrievers cruised to victory over Salisbury University and Frostburg State.
On the women's side, senior
Nyah Stahl captured both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke and classmate
Makaela Hill added a victory in the 100 freestyle.
Senior Daniel Nicusan cruised to victory in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke to pace the men. Classmate Bode Neale duplicated Hill's feat and won the 100 freestyle.
The women defeated Salisbury, 148-57 and Frostburg State, 162-43, while the men triumphed over Salisbury, 149-56 and Frostburg State, 155-50.
"This was a great way to start the second half of the season and our charge towards America East," said Head Coach
Matt Donovan. "The coaches are all very happy with how we performed today and are excited for another great week of practice leading into our final regular season meet."
The teams opened and closed the meet by winning the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays.
Notes:
- Sophomore Bruna de Padua continued her brilliant initial season on Hilltop Circle, cruising to two more victories. She won the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events.
- Juniors Elze Bielskute and Telma Maltesjö captured the 100 yard breaststroke and 1000 freestyle respectively.
- Freshman Ashley Gutshall edged several swimmers to touch first in the 50 yard freestyle.
