Nick Remy allowed just a run on three hits over five innings to help lead the UMBC baseball team to a 9-3 victory against the host Delaware State Hornets on Sunday afternoon.
Remy whiffed four batters and walked two in an 81-pitch effort to improve his record to 1-2 on the season. Freshman lefty

UMBC (4-3) got two hits apiece from five different players. Right fielder

Delaware State (3-7) starter Evan Bouldin (0-2) allowed six earned runs over seven innings and took the loss.
UMBC compiled 12 hits and drew five walks in the contest.

-UMBC took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Molessa delivered a two-out RBI single up the middle to plate
Ian Diaz (singled).
-The Retrievers added two more in the third to grab a 3-0 advantage. Senior
Tony Krueger lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to left field to plate graduate student
Christian Easley (walked). Molessa added a two-out run-scoring single up the middle to plate Diaz, who had doubled down the left field line.

Dawson Baracani gave the visitors a 4-0 lead in the fourth with a two-out single to left field that plated Swenda, who reached on a one-out single to left.
-The Dawgs pushed across three more in the fifth to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Sophomore
Matt Ryan ripped a two-run single to left field to plate Krueger (doubled) and Diaz (walked) with one out.
- The Hornets got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Nick Gnardellis homered over the left field fence.
- Cilio belted his third career dinger in the top of the seventh to plate Ryan (doubled).
- The Hornets (3-7) scored single runs in the seventh and eighth.
