Gerow Scores Four Times; Bockstie Moves Into Eighth on UMBC's Goals' List

Baltimore – Junior attacker Dymin Gerow scored four goals and added an assist as the host UMBC Retrievers pulled away from the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 15-10, on Saturday afternoon at chilly UMBC Stadium.

Gerow scored the game-winning goal on a free position shot with just forty seconds left in the third quarter and then added two more markers in the fourth quarter to help put the Mount away.

The Retrievers, who went 5-for-9 on free-position attempts, received a pair of goals from senior Claire Bockstie, graduate student Lauren Cremen, sophomore Kolby Weedon, senior Megan Halczuk (8 draw controls) and senior Jenna McDermott. Bockstie, who also handed out a game-high three assists, moved into a tie for eighth place with Laurie Linnell ''87 on UMBC's all-time goals' list with 129 markers.

UMBC (3-1) scored the first three goals of the contest and never trailed but the Mount (0-3) pulled even at 6-6 just five seconds before halftime on a tally by Mackenzie Furlong.

Gerow scored her first goal of the day just thirty-nine seconds into the second half off an assist by Cremen. Bockstie then followed on a free position shot to give the hosts an 8-6 lead with 8:50 left in the third quarter. However, Senior midfielder Dani Donoghue scored two unassisted goals to even the game for the second time at 8-8 with 3:42 left in the third quarter.

The Retrievers would respond with three straight goals, two by Gerow, to take command at 11-8 with 9:23 left in the fourth quarter.

The Mount closed to within 11-9 at the 7:32 mark but UMBC put the game away with four straight goals, two of which came off the stick of Cremen.

Junior goalkeeper Isabella Fontana made seven saves and recorded five ground balls for UMBC. Senior Madison Bradley kept the Mount in the game for most of the afternoon as she made 14 saves, including 11 in the opening half.
