BALTIMORE - The UMBC men's lacrosse team will open the home campaign when they welcome Mount St. Mary's to refurbished UMBC Stadium on Friday, Feb. 24. The opening face-off is set for 6:00 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on America East.tv with Gary Stein and
Nick Doyle on the call.

RETRIEVER NOTES Â
- Senior attackman Mike Doughty posted a hat trick and added an assist, while junior linemate Allen Hockenberry –making his first career start – contributed two goals and two assists as UMBC triumphed, 12-7, in the 2023 season opener at Drexel.
- The Retrievers have now won three consecutive season openers.
- UMBC junior goalkeeper Jayson Tingue made 11 saves, including stopping seven of ten shots on goal in the final 30 minutes.
- Junior face-off specialist Zach Dudley captured 9-of-15 draws, while junior LSDM red-shirt sophomore Colby Weishaar garnered a team-high five ground balls and shared caused turnover honors with junior defender Ethan Robinson.
- Grad student Brett Baucia, who scored twice and added an assist at Drexel, hit the 25-goal mark for his career. He is five points shy of 50.
- Fifth-year midfielder Taylor Bohahan, who served as a co-captain in 2022, will reprise his role in 2023, along with senior defender Ricky Fedorchak and juniors Kyle Hoff (SSDM) and Brian Tregoning (A).
- After competing on the grass at Retriever Soccer Park in 2022, UMBC returns to the turf at UMBC Stadium this spring. UMBC Stadium now features a new press box, a fan amenities building and new walking bridge to the facility.

A GLANCE AT THE MOUNT
- After three consecutive losses to in-state rivals to open the season, The Mount outscored host NJIT, 9-6, in the second half and defeated the America East squad, 13-10, on Feb. 18.
- Grad student A/M Jared McMahon earned NEC Player of the Week while freshman attackman TJ Gravante won the league's Rookie of the Week honor for their play last week. McMahon scored four goals against NJIT and added two earlier in the week versus Delaware. Gravante scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist in the 15-6 loss to the No. 12 Blue Hens.
- Gravante and senior attackman Cormac Giblin lead the Mount with eight goals apiece.Â
- Junior goalkeeper Griffin McGinley made 31 saves in the two games last week.
- Senior Connor Beals has won 53.6 percent of his face-off attempts in 2023.

ALL-TIME SERIES
- This will be the 28th meeting between UMBC and Mount St. Mary's and the Retrievers have captured 25 of the first 27 encounters.
- The Mount ended a 23-game losing streak to UMBC with a 16-7 victory in Emmitsburg in 2018, but the Retrievers then won three straight from 2019-21 by margins of 13-10, 9-4 and 8-7 (overtime).
- Last season, UMBC cut a four-goal halftime deficit to one on two occasions, but could not complete the rally and fell, 9-8, at Mount St. Mary's (3-2) in blustery conditions at Waldron Family Stadium on Feb. 25.
