UMBC graduate student guard
Ashia McCalla (Greenbelt, Md.) has been selected to the 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
McCalla currently has a 4.0 GPA in her Cybersecurity M.P.S. program. She graduated from Morgan State with 3.7 GPA and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. She's been named to the Dean's List six times and was on the MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team three times.
On the court she was a three-time All-MEAC Third Team, was on the MEAC All-Rookie Team and was the 16th member of the 1000 point club at Morgan State. This year, she's top 14 in AE in scoring (11.0),, FG%, assists and minutes and18th in steals. She's also scored in double figures in 12 of 15 AE games, including ten in a row as of 2/22
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March
