Women's Basketball Visits Morgan State on Saturday Afternoon

The UMBC Women's Basketball team will look to stay in the win column when it heads to cross-town rival Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

 Jaden Walker filled the stat sheet in a career-night as the Retrievers cruised to a 92-55 win over Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse on Tuesday night at The Peake

Walker had a double-double as she finished with a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds, with three assists, two steals and a block. 

In addition to Walker, four other Retrievers tallied double-digit points as Anna Blount and Jordon Lewis each had 14 points, while Jaliena Sanchez had 12 and Paloma Iradier added 10.

Lewis was four-of-six from three, and Riley Donahue added nine points on three-of-three shooting from distance.

Grace Ceseretti returned from injury for her season debut and scored five points and classmate Carmen Yánez also had five points.

Laura Lacambra had four points in making her first career start and Iradier had seven rebounds off the bench.

Anne Adewumi and Trinity Palacio each added a basket for the Retrievers.

Scouting Morgan State:
  • The Lady Bears (3-6) dropped a 104-38 decision at No.1 South Carolina on Wednesday evening
  • Freshman Tamaria Rumph had a team-high 11 points
  • Gabrielle Johnson entered that contest averaging a team-high 10.1 points per game
  • Joelle Johnson was pulling down a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game entering Wednesday
All-Time Series:
  • UMBC leads the all-time series 15-13, with the Lady Bears taking the previous matchup 
  • The teams last met to open the 2020-21 season on 11/26/20 at Morgan State, with the hosts taking a 67-58 decision.
  •  Graduate student Juliet Esadah led the team with a double-double, scoring 16 points (5-11 FG, 6-8 FT) and pulling down 12 rebounds, including seven defensive.
  • Janee'a Summers led the Retrievers with 17 points, going 7-15 from the field with seven rebounds.
