BALTIMORE – Senior Daniel Nicusan earned three golds and junior
Oliver Gassmann collected a pair as the UMBC swimmers defeated Manhattan and St. Peter's in a three-team meet at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
UMBC defeated Manhattan, 190-61, and St. Peter's, 170-90.
Nicusan won both individual medley events (100, 400) and sprinted home with a win in the 50 breaststroke. Gassmann captured both sprint butterfly races.
Seniors
Charles Bennici (500 free),
Ethan Riser (100 back) and junior
Christian Coleman (50 free) also triumphed for the host Retrievers.
UMBC won both the opening 400 medley relay and closing 200 freestyle relay.
"We asked the guys to step up in some new roles today and they answered the call," said Head Coach
Matt Donovan. "We are setting up well for the mid-season meet at Bucknell in a few weeks. Today was an important building block."
The Retrievers will return to action on Dec. 1-3, when they compete in the Bucknell Invitational.
