Men's Basketball Returns Home Against Binghamton on Wednesday Evening

LAST TIME OUT: UMBC FALLS AT VERMONT

- Visiting UMBC clawed back from a 14-point second half deficit and came within 46-44 at the midpoint of the half, but fell to league-leading Vermont, 74-68, at Patrick Gym.
- Senior forward Yaw Obeng-Mensah recorded his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and adding a career-best 16 rebounds.
- Graduate student guard Craig Beaudoin II got off to a hot start and set a new season high with 17 points, hitting 3-of-5 shots from long range. He added five rebounds and three assists.
- The Retrievers fell to 14-9 on the campaign and 4-4 in America East play. Vermont improved to 12-10, 6-2.

GAME NOTES
- Senior Jacob Boonyasith (13 points) and Lawrence (12 points) also scored in double figures for the Retrievers.
- Obeng-Mensah has averaged 11.5 rebounds per game over his last four outings.
- UMBC and Vermont both struggled from behind the arc, each hitting six treys, but shooting 28.6 percent and 25.0 percent respectively.
- The Retrievers enjoyed a 38-32 advantage on the glass.
- The key stat was points off turnovers as Vermont outscored UMBC, 16-5, and only committed five miscues in the contest. 
 
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats are currently tied for second place in the AE with New Hampshire.
- Binghamton is sixth in the league in scoring (69.0 ppg.) and are yielding 71.5 ppg. (6th).
- Jacob Falko is ninth in the league in scoring (13.7 ppg.).
- Armon Harried is ninth in the league in rebounding at 6.2 per game.

- UMBC leads 21-18.
- The Retrievers have won 10 of the last 13 contests against the Bearcats.
- The Dawgs swept the Bearcats last season, winning 70-68 in Binghamton and 78-68 in Baltimore.

- The Retrievers are 13-1 when they outshoot their opponent. The defeat came at UMass Lowell.
- The Retrievers are 9-1 when they hold opponents under 70 points. The lone loss came at NJIT last Wednesday evening.
- Yaw Obeng-Mensah is tied for the AE lead with a .589 field goal percentage  (43-of-73) in conference games.
- Obeng-Mensah drew a UMBC season-high 11 fouls at Vermont on Saturday.
- UMBC is a combined 45-of-54 (83 percent)  from the foul line in the final four minutes this season.
- Guard Craig Beaudion III leads the AE with 5.1 assists per game in conference games. He's also third with a 3.2 assists/turnover ratio.
- Beaudion has a team-high 11 steals and seven blocks in AE contests.
- UMBC is averaging a league-high 15.4 assists per game in AE contests.

- UMBC broke a program record with 21 3-pointers in their blowout victory over Coppin State. The Retrievers attempted 40 shots from distance in the contest.
- The 21 3s are tied for the 5th most in the country this season.
- UMBC ranks 50th in the country with 8.7 3's made per game and 72nd in attempts per game at 24.3.
 
TAKING CARE OF THE BALL
- UMBC ranks 12th in the country with a 1.50 assists/turnover ratio
- The Retrievers are 8th in the country in fewest turnovers per game (10.1).
- UMBC committed a season-low 5 miscues at Bryant.
- Starting point guard Craig Beaudion II is 22nd in the country in assists/turnover ratio and is 2nd in the AE (2.80).
- UMBC is 10-5 win they win the turnover battle.

THAT 70'S SHOW
-The Retrievers scored 70 or more points in 10 straight before the 64-point output at Maryland. It was the first time they had hit the mark 10 straight times since the 2000-01 season.
-UMBC is 13-3 when they score 70+ this season. The Retrievers are 62nd in the country in scoring offense at 76.8 ppg.
