Volleyball Halts Coppin State's Seven-Game Winning Streak

BALTIMORE – Serin Maden (Ankara, Turkey) had 46 assists and a career-high 12 digs, while Michela De Marzi (Milan, Italy) had eight kills on .583 hitting and six block as the UMBC Volleyball team ended Coppin State's seven-match winning streak with a four set victory (25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-10) on Tuesday night at Coppin's Physical Education Complex Arena.

Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia) paced the offense with 19 kills on a blistering .324 hitting with nine digs and a season-best five blocks. Kamani Conteh (New Castle, Del.) had 17 kills and a career-high three aces.

Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) led all players with 21 digs, while Mila Ilieva (Vidin, Bulgaria) had six blocks and Emily Ferketic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had five. Weronika Wrzesinska (Frednowy, Poland) tied her career-high with two blocks and added six digs and three kills.

The Retrievers defense was strong, as they held All-American and defending MEAC Player of the Year Miajavon Coleman to -.083 hitting with only seven kills.

UMBC (6-5) has a week off before hosting American next Wednesday at The Peake.
