BALTIMORE– UMBC women's lacrosse will travel to New York to take on the top-seeded UAlbany Great Danes in the semifinals of the America East Championships on Thursday. The Retrievers clinched the final tournament spot after a 13-10 win against New Hampshire last Saturday.

Scouting the Retrievers:
- UMBC heads to Albany as the four seed in the tournament sitting at 8-8 on the year after knocking off New Hampshire 13-10 on Saturday to earn a spot in the tournament. Claire Bockstie (Forest Hill, Md./Maryvale Prep) scored four goals and added two assists to help pace the Retrievers.
- During the 2022 regular season Bockstie led the Retrievers with 60 goals and 17 assists for 77 points. Dymin Gerow (Baltimore, Md./Episcopal) and Kolby Weedon (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) chipped in 43 goals each.
- Megan Halczuk (Fawn Grove, Pa.) dominated in the draw circle, setting a single-season record of 106 draw controls.
Scouting the Great Danes:
- UAlbany comes in as the top seed for the 2022 America East Tournament and are 7-8 on the year after losing their regular-season finale against Stony Brook, 16-5 on Saturday. The Great Danes are just 2-5 at home this year compared to 5-3 on the road.
- Katie Pascale leads the Great Danes with 72 points on 38 goals and 34 assists. Pascale has also collected a team-high 77 draws with 24 ground balls.
- Sarah Falk has scored a team-best 44 goals with 13 assists for 57 points.
All-Time Series:
- This will be the 24th all-time meeting between the two schools with the Great Danes holding a 17-6 advantage. This will also be the fifth time the two meet in the America East Tournament with UAlbany winning three of the four.
- Earlier this year, the Great Danes defeated the Retrievers 13-9 in Baltimore. UMBC had an early 2-0 lead and fought back to tie it early in the third, but UAlbany scored the last three goals of the game to pull away.
Milestone Watch:
- Megan Halczuk is just 41 away from becoming the all-time leader.
- Claire Bockstie is three goals away from breaking the single-season record and is five points away from being the single-season record holder.
