Retriever Coaching Legends Ed Veit and Sam DeBone Honored with Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame Inductions

Inductions take place on May 13 at Columbus Gardens

Maryland Soccer Legends will induct two UMBC men's soccer coaching legends - Ed Veit and Sam DeBone –into Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame on Friday, May 13 at Columbus Gardens.
 
Veit served as the Retrievers' head soccer coach from 1973-80 and compiled a record of 69-39-13. His 1977 team, which posted a record of 15-2 was UMBC's first ever team to earn an NCAA Tournament bid. UMBC's Most Outstanding Freshman is given an award in his name.
 
DeBone was a member of the Retriever coaching staff for 23 seasons and returned this spring to volunteer with the program. He is credited with molding some of the best goalkeepers in school history. DeBone was inducted into the Walt Whitman High School Hall of Fame in 2009.
