Vestel, N.Y.-- A slow offensive night led to UMBC dropping game one in this weekend's three game series against Binghamton.
The Bearcats were able to get an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Retrievers were in position to respond in the second, but ended their turn at the plate with bases loaded and unable to score.
Junior
Justin Taylor (Reston, VA.) and Sophomore
Drew Roberts (Mathews, N.C.) lead the offense, each with two hits in four at bats. Junior
Michael Cilio (Chester, N.J.) hit a sac fly in the top of the ninth to get the Retrievers one run on the night.
Freshman
Jayden Shertel (Mays Landing, N.J.) will be given the loss after pitching in the opening four innings, striking out five and walking three.
The second game in the series will be played tomorrow, Saturday, April 30th at 2 P.M. from Bearcats Baseball Stadium in Vestel, N.Y.
