BALTIMORE– UMBC women's lacrosse will return after a week off to take on A10 foe George Washington on Saturday. The Retrievers are coming off a 17-9 win at American last Saturday to sit at 2-1 in the early season.
Claire Bockstie (Forest Hill, Md./Maryvale Prep) led the Retrievers with seven points on six goals and one assist against the Eagles.

Scouting the Retrievers:
- The Retrievers come into the first of three straight home games with a 2-1 record, most recently defeating American 17-9 last Saturday. UMBC got a big performance from Claire Bockstie who tallied six goals and one assist in the win. The Retrievers are averaging 15.7 goals per game, outscoring opponents 47-22.
- Dymin Gerow (Baltimore, Md./Episcopal) leads a potent attack with 17 points (13g, 4a), leading the Retrievers in both goals and assists.
- Bockstie is just behind her at 12 goals and two assists for 14 points. Bockstie is also currently second in the nation in shots per game at 11.67.
- Kelly Brown (Kennett Square, Pa.) has picked up a team-best 11 ground balls with Kolby Weedon (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) and Megan Halczuk (Fawn Grove, Pa.) collecting 13 draw controls each.
- Both Isabella Fontana (Chevy Chase, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) and Lexi Roberts (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) have seen equal action in net this year, with Fontana stopping 18 shots, including 15 against the Eagles.
Scouting the Colonials:
- George Washington travels to Baltimore at 0-2, most recently dropping a 12-7 decision at Villanova on Wednesday. The Wildcats got out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
- Bailey Aaron leads the attack with four goals and four points. She is also the team leader in shots (6) and draw controls (4).
- Megan Patrick has played every minute in goal for the Colonials, making 23 saves in net.
All-Time Series:
- This will be just the third all-time meeting between the two schools with UMBC winning the previous two games.
- It will be the first meeting since 2017 where the Retrievers defeated the Colonials 17-8. In the only other meeting, UMBC defeated George Washington, 13-3 in Baltimore.
Retrievers Honored:
- Gerow and Weedon have both earned America East weekly awards in the first two weeks of the season. Gerow is the reigning and two-time America East Offensive Player of the Week, while Weedon was named Rookie of the Week after the first week.
