BALTIMORE– UMBC men's basketball heads north to take on first-place Vermont on Saturday afternoon. The Retrievers are coming off a big 95-84 win against Stony Brook on Wednesday night that moved them into sole possession of second place in the America East with four games to go.

Scouting the Retrievers:
- UMBC comes into the contest at 13-12, 8-6 AE and in sole possession of second place in the America East after a 95-84 win against Stony Brook on Wednesday. UMBC led for most of the game, getting 22 points from Keondre Kennedy (Atlanta, Ga.) and double-doubles from Nathan Johnson (Adel, Iowa) with 14 points/11 rebounds, and Darnell Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Indian Land (SC)/New Mexico JC) with 14 points and a career-high 13 assists.
- Kennedy leads the Retrievers averaging 14.8 ppg and is second on the team at 5.1 rpg. The senior is shooting just under 50 percent from the floor at 49.3 percent.
- Rogers and L.J. Owens (Annapolis, Md./Severn School/William & Mary) are also in double figures at 11.0 and 10.9 ppg respectively. Rogers is dishing out a team-best 4.0 apg.
- Yaw Obeng-Mensah (Toronto, Ontario) leads the team on the glass with 5.6 rpg.
Scouting the Catamounts:
- The Catamounts come into the contest as the top seed in the conference standings at 21-5, 13-1 AE on the year. Vermont recently defeated New Hampshire 71-50 on Wednesday to win the regular season title. The Catamounts are a perfect 11-0 at home this year.
- Ryan Davis leads the team averaging 17.4 ppg and is pulling down 5.8 rpg, shooting just under 60 percent from the floor at 58.1. Ben Shungu is the only other Catamount in double figures at 16.1 ppg.
- Isaiah Powell leads the team on the glass at 6.4 rpg.
All-Time Series:
- This will be the 46th all-time meeting between Vermont and UMBC, and the second this year. The Catamounts lead the all-time series 37-9, winning the matchup earlier this year 86-69.
- The Retrievers have had some success against the Catamounts recently with UMBC and Vermont splitting the last ten meetings, 5-5.
