BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's and men's swimming and diving teams make the short trip around I-695 to take on the Towson Tigers on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 17 and 18. The diving competition takes place at noon on the 17th, while the swimming portion gets underway at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Burdick Pool.
The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5, but postponed and rescheduled.

On Saturday, UMBC competed at Howard, six days after returning from their Florida training trip. Graduate student
Tiago Asakawa earned UMBC's lone gold in swimming as he triumphed in the 50 freestyle (21.16).
The Retrievers captured both diving events. Freshman
Anders Logas won the 1-meter event with a total score of 230.37, while senior
Will Henrickson took the 3-meter board, amassing 267.45 points.
Last season, UMBC demonstrated their depth as they defeated visiting Towson, 157-141 at the UMBC Aquatic Complex to earn their first win in dual meet competition of the season. Six different Retrievers earned gold for the Retrievers, while UMBC recorded another dozen second place finishes in the pool and in the well.
Senior
Niklas Weigelt took the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:41.66 and Nicusan (won the 100 yard breaststroke, touching first in 57.44.
UMBC will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they host George Mason. The meet gets underway at 1 p.m., but the ceremony will start at 12:40 p.m.
