The UMBC women's soccer team (4-4-3, 0-1-1 America East) makes its first-ever trip to league newcomer Bryant (3-5-3, 0-1-2 AE) on Sunday, Oct. 2 for a match with the Bulldogs. The contest gets underway in Smithfield, R.I. at 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on the America East Digital Network.
NOTABLE
- The Retrievers held a 2-0 lead with 30 minutes remaining, but visiting Maine scored three times in 19:09 to come away with a 3-2 victory last Sunday afternoon at Retriever Soccer Park.
- Junior striker Meghan McKye scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 6', while senior linemate Alyssa Palmucci tallied on a terrific strike in the 60'.
- Palmucci scored her first goal in a UMBC uniform and first collegiate goal since a 2019 goal versus UNC Asheville while competing for East Carolina.
- UMBC is looking to snap a five-match (0-3-2) winless streak.
- Goakeeper Morgan McGruder is tied for 29th nationally with five shutouts.
- The America East Conference tabbed UMBC sophomore fullback Alyssa Clearfield as its Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5. Clearfield has played all 990 minutes through nine games this season after starting 14 of 15 games a year ago. She picked up her second assist of the season on McKye's goal last Sunday.

- Bryant is 3-5-3 overall and has picked up a point in two of three (0-1-2) America East games to date.
- The Bulldogs have drawn at 1-1 with their last two foes, versus Vermont and, most recently at UAlbany on Thursday.
- Makayla Griffin scored the game-tying goal in the 30' at Albany. It was her second goal of the season, tying Emma Pedolsky for the team lead.
- Three goalkeepers have seen action for the Bulldogs, with Kathryn McNeil faring the best. She has a 3-3-3 record with a 1.18 GAA and 80.0 save percentage.
