BALTIMORE– UMBC men's basketball hits the home stretch of their torrid three games in five day stretch against UAlbany on Wednesday night at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. The Retrievers are coming off a 65-51 loss at Stony Brook on Monday night. UMBC held a lead in the first half, but a late run by the Seawolves before halftime gave them the lead for good.

Scouting the Retrievers:
- UMBC comes into the contest at 6-9, 1-3 AE on the year after suffering their second straight loss, 65-51 at Stony Brook on Monday. The Retrievers got 10 points from post Yaw Obeng-Mensah (Toronto, Ontario) in the loss. UMBC led in the first half, but the Seawolves took the lead for good just before the half.
- Keondre Kennedy (Atlanta, Ga.) leads the Retriever offensive attack with 13.1 ppg and is second on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game. Kennedy is is shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three.
- Darnell Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Indian Land (SC)/New Mexico JC) and L.J. Owens (Annapolis, Md./Severn School/William & Mary) are also in double figures at 10.9 and 10.0 ppg respectively. Owens is shooting 47.1 percent from three.
- Obeng-Mensah leads the Retrievers on the glass grabbing 5.4 rpg.
Scouting the Great Danes:
- The Great Danes come to Baltimore riding a two-game win streak, sitting at 6-10, 2-2 AE on the year. UAlbany is 3-3 at home compared to just 2-6 away from the Capital Region this season. Last time out, the Great Danes defeated NJIT 71-56 at home.
- De'Vondre Perry is the lone Great Dane in double figures, averaging 12.8 ppg. Perry is shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, pulling down 5.0 rpg.
- Justin Neely leads the team on the boards averaging 6.0 rpg.
All-Time Series:
- This will be the 41st meeting between the two schools with UAlbany leading the series 27-13. UMBC has had the better of the two over the last four seasons, going 6-3 in the last nine games.
- Last year the Retrievers swept the season series with both games played up in Albany by a combined six points.
Milestone Watch:
- Several Retrievers are approaching career milestones in 2021-22. L.J. Owens is approaching the 1,000 point mark, needing just 152 points to achieve the mark. He is also just 2 games away from 100 career games played.
