Fort Worth, Tx. -- The UMBC Volleyball team fell to Nicholls State (4-1) in four sets (25-21, 25-12, 14-25, 25- ) to kick-off the final day of the Cowtown Classic on Friday.
UMBC (1-5) was paced on offense by 13 kills from Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia), 12 kills from Kamani Conteh (New Castle, Del.) and 10 kills from Emily Ferketic (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) picked up her fifth-straight double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs, while Beste Ayhan (Istanbul, Turkey) added five kills and a block, and Mila Ilieva (Vidin, Bulgaria) chipped in four kills and a block.
Loren Teter (Redondo Beach, Calif.) lead the way on defense with 14 digs, while Kayla Tomas (Silver Spring, Md.) added 13 digs. Weronika Wrzesinska (Frednowy, Poland) had a season-best seven digs.
The Retrievers will close out play in the Cowtown Classic against host TCU (2-2) at 8 p.m.
