The UMBC softball team will play at The Diamond for the final time in 2021, when it hosts Maine for a critical America East series this weekend.
The doubleheader on Saturday is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday's single game is at noon, with a senior ceremony honoring both the class of 2020 and class of 2021 will begin at 11:35 a.m.
UMBC (17-10, 6-4 AE) split a home doubleheader with Hartford on Wednesday.
Maddie Daigneau (New River, Ariz.) went 3-for-4 and Courtney Coppersmith (York, Pa.) struck out 14 as the Retrievers took game one against Hartford, 5-0. The Hawks would take the second game, 8-1, to earn the split.
Scouting Maine
The Black Bears enter the weekend at 11-16, and 7-5 in America East play. Last weekend, they handed Stony Brook its first America East loss of the season.
Keely Clark leads Maine with .400 average and is on a 10 game hitting streak. The junior from California has a hit in 20 of the 22 games she has played in this season.
Junior Kelby Drews has seven homers and 17 RBI, while sophomore Izzy Nieblas has four homers and 18 RBI.
Senior Kyleigh O'Donnell anchors the pitching staff with a 9-4 record and a 2.58 ERA.
