Vestal, N.Y. -- The UMBC Men's Lacrosse team battled back from a three-goal second-half defecit, but was unable to breakthrough as host Binghamton (2-1, 2-1 AE) scored with 0.07 left in overtime to win, 8-7.

The short-handed Retrievers (3-1, 2-1 AE) peppered the net the entire game, outshooting the Bearcats 48-25, but BU goalie Teddy Dolan tied a career-high with 18 saves. UMBC never led in the game.

Nick Dupuis (Alexandria, Va.) had a team-best three goals and two assists, while Trevor Patschorke (Severna Park, Md.) added two goals. Brandon Galloway (Gransonville, Md.) had a goal and an assist, and Dane Hall (Harwood, Md.) had the other goal for UMBC. Brett Baucia (Crofton, Md.) chipped in with two assists and two caused turnovers. Alex Poma (Marietta, Ga.) went 12-18 on faceoffs, while adding six ground balls. Patschorke and Dupuis each picked up three ground balls, and goalie Tommy Lingner (Fort Solonga, N.Y.) finished with five saves. 

The first half was a low-scoring affair, with Binghamton taking  3-2 lead into the half despite UMBC outshooting the hosts 25-12. 

Binghamton scored the first two of the second half, before Dupuis scored his first of the game to cut it to 5-3. The teams then traded goals until a Dupuis goal with seven seconds left in the third cut the BU lead to 7-6. Dupuis then scored just 2:15 into the final stanza to tie the game, but despite UMBC outshooting the Bearcats 14-3 (9-1 SOG) in the fourth, they couldn't pull ahead. Each team had multiple opportunities in OT, but BU got a bouncer by Lingner just before the horn to win it. 

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday at noon at UMBC stadium.
