UMBC Women Finish Seventh At America East Championships on Sunday

Final Results

Durham, N.H.—UMBC track and field took home seventh place at the America East Championships on Sunday, as a handful of Retrievers earned medals. Albany won the title for the eighth straight year, edging out New Hampshire.

Funmi Daramola and Amani Wallace earned a pair of individual medals on Sunday. Daramola took home sixth in the 400m dash (57.42) and sixth in the 200m dash (24.66). Wallace earned bronze in the 400m dash with a time of 56.66 and seventh in the 200m dash in 24.98. Yinka Alabi took seventh in the 100m dash (14.46) and eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:06.17). 

Other individual medalists include Kara Patrice in the 100m dash (seventh, 12.11), Tori Johnson in the 400m hurdles (seventh, 1:05.86), and Sophia Cologer in the 5,000m (third, 17:16.93).

The 4x400m relay team of Daramola, Johnson, Aliya Sharp and Wallace took second with a time of 3:47.86 while the 4x800m relay quartet of Kaya Knake, Bridgett Redding, Elise Allen and Briana Roberts placed third in 9:07.66.

Albany won their eighth straight title, edging out New Hampshire and Stony Brook. UMass Lowell, Binghamton, Vermont, UMBC, Maine and Hartford rounded out the field. 

The Retrievers will head to the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J. next weekend to continue the championship season.
