EAST GREENVILLE, N.C. - UMBC swimming and diving closed out the regular season on Saturday at East Carolina, with several Retrievers earning first place finishes. Senior Emily Escobedo led the way for UMBC, winning three individual events on the day.

Escobedo picked up victories in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. She touched in with times of 1:02.93 and 2:10.73 in both breaststroke events, respectively. The senior finished the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.07 to lead the UMBC women.

The 400 free relay team of Hania Moro, Allie Caulfield, Lauren Day and Haylee Committe touched in with a time of 3:34.27.

On the boards, Abby Biddulph earned third place finishes in the 1 meter (181.10) and 3 meter (198.15) dives.

On the men's side, Philip Adejumo took first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.20 while Gregor Spoerlein picked up a victory in the 50 free, touching in with a time of 21.32. Spoerlein, along with Ilia Rattsev, Ahmed Wahby and Jared Vance picked up a win in the 400 yard free relay, touching in with a time of 3:05.30. 

Other first place finishes for the Retrievers included Rattsev in the 500 free (4:35.22) and Nikola Trajkovic in the 200 IM (1:53.46).

On the diving board, Elijah Wright picked up third place finishes in the 1 meter (259.72) and 3 meter (262.65) dives.

UMBC will return to the pool February 9-12 when the teams head to the America East Championships in Worcester, Mass.
