Myrtle Beach, S.C.—UMBC baseball suffered its fourth straight setback at the hands of Toledo on Sunday afternoon. The Retrievers and Rockets each managed five hits, but it was Toledo who scored the lone run of the day.

Neither team could get anything going on offense in the early going, as both Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip College) and Caleb Schillace pitched lights out early.

Every time the Retrievers would get a runner on, the Rockets were there to answer the call and vice versa.

In the ninth, however is when the Rockets would break through on the lone run of the game. Toledo got a man aboard with a single to right field. A sacrifice bunt would push a runner in scoring position, followed by another single to move a Rocket 90 feet from the plate. UMBC would surrender the run on a wild pitch that allowed Toledo to score the go-ahead run.

Wozniak threw seven innings of scoreless ball, giving up two hits while striking out eight. Jonny Dierks (Easton, Md./Independence/Fort Scott CC) and Denis Mikush (Burke, Va./Robinson) threw two innings in relief giving up one run and three hits.

Andrew Casali (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) led the Retriever offense going 2-4 from the dish.

UMBC is back on the diamond on Tuesday, March 10 against Richmond. First pitch with the Spiders is slated for 3:00 p.m.
