UMBC Game Notes
BALTIMORE – The UMBC women's basketball team puts its four-game win streak on the line when the Retrievers travel to Princess, Anne, Md., for a 6 p.m. matchup against UMES on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
Scouting the Retrievers (6-3):
-UMBC extended its win streak to four games on Saturday afternoon, defeating Morgan State, 65-46. The Retrievers used a 26-0 third-quarter run to roll past the Lady Bears. UMBC had four double-digit scorers in the contest, led by a game-high 17 points, five rebounds and three steals from sophomore guard Laura Castaldo. Junior forward Pandora Wilson added 15 points and nine rebounds, while guards Taylor McCarley and Capree Garner combined for 25 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists and two steals.
-During their current win streak, the Retrievers are outscoring opponents by 16.0 points per game and are turning over opponents 24.0 times per contest for a +9.8 turnover margin. Castaldo leads UMBC in scoring over the last four games (13.3 ppg) and is shooting 57 percent from long range. Pandora Wilson is chipping in 12.5 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds, while McCarley is dishing out 7.3 of the team's 14.0 assists per game.
-The Retrievers' defense has picked up steam throughout UMBC's first month and a half of play. UMBC enters the week ranked 44th in Division I in scoring defense (55.4 ppg), 14th in turnover margin (+6.2) and 29th in turnovers forced (21.3).
-Offensively, McCarley ranks 18th in Division I in free throw attempts (61) and 32nd in assists per game (5.6). The All-Conference guard recently moved into 11th-place all-time at UMBC in career assists (259). McCarley is chipping in 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game on the season.
-Pandora Wilson leads the Retrievers' three double-digit scorers at 13.0 points per game. Wilson ranks 11th in the America East in scoring and fifth in rebounding (7.6 rpg). Garner has double-digit points in three of her four games since returning to the lineup for 11.3 points per game. Castaldo stands tied for second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (37.5 percent) en route to chipping in 9.1 points per game.
Scouting the Hawks (3-7):
-UMES fell for the fourth time in five games on Sunday as the Hawks scored a season-low 39 points as they closed out a four-game road trip at VCU with a 63-39 loss. Red-shirt sophomore guard Moengaroa Subritzky led UMES with 10 points on the day.
-Subritzky is the only double-digit scorer (10.2 ppg) on a team that is averaging 56.9 points per game on the season. UMES is shooting 35.6 percent from the field for the season, including 28.0 percent from long range.

-UMBC wraps up action before the holiday break with a Sunday noon matinee versus cross-town rival Loyola on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Inside the Series
-UMBC leads the all-time series, 8-4. The Retrievers defeated UMES, 87-78, in Princess Anne in the last meeting on Dec. 22, 2014.
