UMBC Game Notes
BALTIMORE – After three straight home games, the UMBC women's basketball team is set to hit the road for five consecutive games, starting with a 2 p.m. matchup against Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Hill Field House.
Scouting the Retrievers (5-3):
-UMBC is winners of five of its last six contests, including three straight wins to start out the month of December. The Retrievers are coming off a 65-52 victory against Bucknell on Tuesday. UMBC had three double-digit scorers in the victory, led by 17 points off the bench from senior guard Capree Garner. Junior forward Pandora Wilson chipped in 14 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Laura Castaldo added 12 points and four rebounds.
-During their three-game home stand, the Retrievers outscored their opponents by 15.0 points and turned over their opponents 24.7 times per game, for a +12.0 turnover margin. Last year against the same three opponents, UMBC was outscored by 24.0 points per game. Sophomore Laura Castaldo has averaged a team-best 12.0 points per game during the win streak.
-Pandora Wilson leads three double-digit scorers for an offense that is averaging 57.9 points per game this season. Pandora Wilson is averaging team-bests in points (12.8) and rebounding (7.4), while Garner is chipping in 11.3 points per game during her three appearances. Junior guard Taylor McCarley is doing a little bit of everything for the Retrievers, averaging 10.1 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.
Scouting the Lady Bears (2-8):
-Morgan State has dropped two in a row, including a 73-33 loss to Virginia Tech on Wednesday. Sophomore guard Braennan Farrar paced the Lady Bears with eight points against the Hokies, while sophomore guard Zuri White pulled down 10 rebounds.
-Farrar pilots MSU's offense that is scoring 48.8 points per game. Farrar is scoring 13.2 points per game and is chipping in 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest. Lexus Spears is shooting a team-best 44 percent from the field, but as a team Morgan State is knocking down 29.5 percent of its shots.
On the Horizon for the Retrievers
-UMBC continues road action with a trip to Princess Anne, Md., to take on UMES in a 6 p.m. matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

-UMBC holds a 12-11 lead in the all-time series, but Morgan State has won the last two meetings.
