Undefeated UMBC Women's Soccer Returns Home to Host Saint Joseph's on Friday

BALTIMORE – The undefeated UMBC women's soccer team returns home on Friday, Sept. 5 to take on Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m. at Retriever Soccer Park. All the live action is available free of charge at UMBCRetrievers.tv courtesy of the America East digital network.

Scouting the Retrievers

-UMBC is off to its best start to a season since 1996, improving to 4-0 following Tuesday night's 2-1 victory at Bucknell. The win marked the Retrievers' first on the Bison's home field.

-The Retrievers entered the week with their highest-ranking ever, climbing three spots to No. 6 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Northeast Region Poll, and have won 12-straight contests at the Retriever Soccer Park.

-Freshman forward Lisa Nanov earned America East, ECAC and College Sports Madness Rookie of the Week honors on Tuesday, after posting a pair of scores in the Retrievers' 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Loyola. Nanov chipped in an assists in Tuesday's win against Bucknell, marking her fifth point in the last three games.

-Senior midfielder Lilly Rydon tallied her second goal of the season in the win against the Bison. Rydon ranks second on the team with four points and is tied with Nanov for a team-best two goals.

-Junior goalkeeper Jen Nance is 4-0 in the net this year. Her season-best eight saves on Tuesday brings her 2014 total to 21 stops.

Scouting the Hawks

-After winning their season-opener to Pacific, 4-1, the Hawks have dropped three straight to fall to 1-3 on the season. In its latest contest, Saint Joseph's fell, 5-0, to Hofstra on Sunday.

-Sophomore forward Emily Gingrich was picked as a preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection. She leads the team with three goals after registering a hat trick against Pacific in the opener.

-Junior goalkeeper Allison Ebling registered a career-best eight saves in the Hawks' latest contest. She has seen action all the action in net thus far, totaling 11 stops.

Inside the Series

-SJU leads the all-time series against the Retrievers, 1-0-1.

-The two teams met on Aug. 30 of last season and ended in a scoreless draw on the Hawks' home field.
