Women's Soccer Travels to Robert Morris for Non-Conference Finale Friday

Game Notes

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer team returns to action in its non-conference finale on Friday, Sept. 26 when it travels to Moon Township, Pa., to take on Robert Morris at 3 p.m. at North Athletic Complex. Live action will be available at UMBCRetrievers.com.

Scouting the Retrievers (7-2-0)

-UMBC is coming off its third shutout in the last four games with Tuesday's 3-0 victory against American. Freshman forward Lisa Nanov (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) posted three points in the contest, including her second game-winning goal of the season.

-Nanov and senior midfielder Jessy Brown (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) have combined to register 15 points in the last four games and lead the squad with 11 points apiece on the season, ranking second in the league. Brown is the reigning America East Player of the Week after posting the Retrievers' first five-point effort since 2009 on Friday, Sept. 19 against Delaware State.

-The Retrievers lead the America East in points (57), goals (20), assists (17) and corner kicks (59). Senior Lilly Rydon (Adelaide, South Australia/Concordia College) pilots the squad with a career-best five goals, ranking second in the conference. Nanov, Brown and Rydon mark the first trio to each post 10-plus points for the Retrievers in a season since 2002 when Missy Moore (20), Lauren Cunningham (15) and Lori Quintavalle (14) did so.

-Goalkeeper Jen Nance (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) posted her fourth shutout of the season on Tuesday. The junior is surrendering 0.68 goals per game and ranks in the top-30 in Division I in save percentage (.870).

Scouting the Colonials (2-7-1)

-Robert Morris has dropped three of its last four games, including Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Howard. The Bison took a 2-0 first-half lead, before freshman midfielder Maleha Kureishy took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity with her first goal of the season in the 76th minute, but the Colonials were unable to put home the equalizer.

-Despite missing a game of action, sophomore forward Antonia Grese paces the offense with three goals and seven points on the season. Junior forward Kristie Hamilton has recorded a team-high 22 shots on the year and has six points to show for it.

-Robert Morris has used three different goalkeepers on the year, with Becky Schoenecker seeing the brunt of the action with seven starts and nine appearances. The senior has 45 saves and a pair of shutouts on the campaign.

Inside the Series

-UMBC leads the all-time series, 5-1, after last season's 2-1 victory that started the Retrievers' run to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

-Last season's meeting on Sept. 6 was the first meeting between the two squads since they competed against each other as members of the Northeast Conference.
