BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer continues America East action on Thursday, Oct. 9 when it hits the road to take on New Hampshire. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cowell Stadium. Live action is available at UMBCRetrievers.com.
Scouting the Retrievers (8-3-1, 0-1-1 AEC)
-After its first week of America East action, the Retrievers have posted a 0-1-1 mark in league play, coming off a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Stony Brook on Sunday. Red-shirt freshman forward Destinee Morris (La Plata, Md./La Plata) registered her second goal of the season, but SBU countered four minutes later to force the eventual tie.
-The Retrievers rank second in the league in points (68), goals (23) and assists (22). Senior midfielders Jessy Brown (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) and Lilly Rydon (Adelaide, South Australia/Concordia College), along with freshman forward Lisa Nanov (Mechanicsburg, Md./Cumberland Valley) have each contributed double-digit points on the season. Brown leads the way with a team-best 14 points, fourth in the league, with five goals and four assists, while Rydon's team-best six goals is tied for fourth in the AEC. Nanov has dished out a conference-best seven helpers, ranking 18th in Division I in total assists.
-Netminder Jen Nance (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) ranks in the top-50 in Division I in goals against average (0.748) and save percentage (0.836). The junior has posted five shutouts on the season and has totaled 46 saves.
Scouting the Wildcats (4-7-0, 1-1-1 AEC)
-UNH is coming off a scoreless draw against Maine on Sunday. Sophomore goalkeeper Mimi Borkan made six stops on the night for her fourth shutout of the season.
-The Wildcats rank second in the league, behind only the Retrievers, in goals allowed at 1.00 goals per game. Borkan ranks third in the league in save percentage (.831) and fourth in saves (54).
-Offensively, freshman forward Brooke Murphy pilots the squad with six goals, fourth in the America East, and 12 points, sixth in the league.
Inside the Series
-New Hampshire leads the all-time series, 8-2-1, but the series is an even 1-1-1 on the last three meetings.
-Seven of the 11 meetings between the Retrievers and the Wildcats have been decided by one goal.
