Friday afternoon at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships
hosted by Penn State. The men finished in 14th place

After earning All-Conference accolades two weeks ago at the
America East Championships, McGee once again put

the 10K course in a personal-best 31:29.35 for 41st place, moving
him up to third all-time in school history for that
distance. The junior's run bested his previous top time
of 31:54 set back during his freshman campaign of 2010.
Following McGee, junior Jake
Albino (Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) finished 33 seconds
back (32:02.05), placing 60th overall and slotting himself fifth on
the school list. Each of the other Retriever scorers,
freshman Hassan Omar,
junior Vinny
DiSalvo(Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville), and
senior TJ
Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) also placed in the
top-100 in a race of 170 competitors.
On the women's side sophomore Julie
Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) paced
the Retrievers for the first time this season after scoring in five
of the Retrievers' first six meets. Gessler placed 128th
overall in a season-best 6K time of 23:18.65 with Sarah
Daly (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) just ten seconds back
in 134th. Freshman Nicole
Dawson (Jessup, Md./Hammond), junior Kirsten
McGovern (Sykesville, Md./Century), and freshman Angelina Oputa (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton)
rounded out the scoring for UMBC.
The Georgetown men won the regional for the eighth time in the
last nine years while the hosts, Penn State, claimed the women's
