BETHLEHEM, Pa.—The UMBC men's and women's
cross country teams took part in the Paul Short Run Friday morning
and both finished 35th in the team standings.
On the men's side, junior Sam Boimov (Montgomery
Village, Md./Gaithersburg/Salisbury) placed 123rd overall in 25:21
to cross the line finish first for the Retrievers.
Freshman Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) finished
nine seconds later, while senior Chris Bowie (Bethesda,
Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), freshman Nic Escobar (Derwood,
Md./Magruder) and senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill,
New Zealand/James Hargest College) completed the scoring five.
On the women's side, senior Sara
Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University) placed
32nd overall and crossed the line first for the Retrievers in a
time of 21:20, while junior Keri Wilson (Columbia,
Md./Long Reach) finished 174th in 22:52. Freshman Cody
Mezebish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll), sophomoreLaura
Blevins (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and senior Cortney
Crouse (Union Bridge, Md./Linganore) rounded out the scoring
five.
The Retrievers return to action Oct. 16 for the Princeton
Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
