Men's Cross Country Finished Fourth at Mount St. Mary's Dual 5K's on Friday

EMMITSBURG, Md.-- The UMBC men's cross country team opened its 2009 season at the Mount St. Mary's Dual 5K's Friday, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a dual record of 1-4. 

Freshman TJ Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) crossed the line for the Retrievers first and 17th overall in a time of 16:13.75. Fellow freshman Josh Day () placed 21st in 16:24.09, while freshman Aristotle Johnson (Dover,Del./Dover), sophomore Roy Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore) and freshman Michael Glassman (Baltimore, Md./Lock Raven) rounded out the scoring five for UMBC.

American won the meet with a record of 5-0, Navy was second with a record of 4-1, while George Washington was third. UMBC tied with St. Francis (Pa.) and the Mount.

The Retrievers return to action Sept. 12 at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md..
