UMBC Baseball Falls at Vermont, 3-0, Saturday

BURLINGTON, Vt.--The UMBC baseball team opened its final America East series of year with a 3-0 loss at Vermont on Saturday afternoon. The second game of doubleheader was postponed due to rain. With the loss, the Retrievers fall to 9-32 on the season and 4-15 in America East play.
 
Vermont starter Justin Albert pitched a four-hit shutout, allowing three of the hits in the first inning, but the Retrievers could not take advantage. The Catamounts had four-extra base hits, including two doubles by Matt Duffy to earn the win.
 
Junior starter Ed Bach (1-10) took the loss, striking out five in his fifth complete game of the season.
 
The two teams return to action Sunday with a doubleheader at noon. The make-up game will be played Monday at noon.
