Women's Basketball Concludes Home Stand Sunday Afternoon Against NJIT

The UMBC women's basketball team (1-3) concludes its four-game home stand Sunday afternoon as the New Jersey Institute of Technology (2-2)comes to the RAC Arena for a 2 p.m. game. Sunday's meeting is the first ever between the two teams. The game can be heard on WVIE AM 1370.

The Retrievers are coming off a 50-45 loss to crosstown rival Towson on Nov. 21. Senior point guard Brittnie Hughes was held to single digits in scoring for the first time this season with eight points, but she added seven assists and four rebounds. Senior forward Sharri Rohde and junior guard Kristin Drabyn each posted a team-best 12 points, while Rohde added eight rebounds.

In their first season of Division-I basketball, the Highlanders are coming off an 86-54 victory over Wilmington on Nov. 21. Four players scored in double figures, led by freshman Katie Piekielski's career-best 21 points. She leads the team with 18.3 ppg.
