Moon Township, PA-Senior guard Shalayna Johnson tied a school record with 36 points, but the UMBC women's basketball team lost a heartbreaking, 85-82 decision in triple overtime to Robert Morris. UMBC fell to 3-9, 0-3 NEC, while the Colonials won for the first time this season in twelve decisions.
UMBC trailed, 56-45 with 7:51 to play, but rallied and sent the contest to overtime when Johnson hit a three with 2 seconds left in regulation. UMBC jumped out to a 67-62 edge in the first overtime, but RMU sent it to a second overtime with a field goal with 12 seconds to play. The Colonials scored the first eight points of the third OT, but UMBC rallied and Johnson's attempt to send the game to a fourth extra frame was just off the mark.
Johnson hit 15 of 33 from the floor and 6 of 20 from behind the arc. Christine Catalanotto added 13 points for UMBC, Jessie Brown had 12 and Milette Green added 11.
