Baltimore, MD - UMBC (3-6, 0-2 NEC) dropped its second consecutive double-overtime game as they fell to St. Francis (PA) (3-6-1, 1-1 NEC) by a score of 3-2 Sunday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Stadium. Red Flash freshman Lea Brady (Holbrook, NY/Sachem) ended the 2-2 tie in the 109th minute to lead St. Francis (PA) to their first Northeast Conference victory of the season.
Both UMBC sophomore Missy Moore (Silver Spring, MD/Good Counsel) and Red Flash freshman Meghan Pearson (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) led their respective teams in scoring, as they scored two apiece in regulation. Moore's first goal gave UMBC a 1-0 advantage after she blasted a shot from ten yards into the Red Flash net. Pearson answered with a goal of her own before Moore was able to give UMBC a 2-1 halftime lead with a successful penalty kick.
Pearson tied the game in the 62nd minute, and the score remained at 2-2 until Brady ended the contest with a shot from the right side and into the left corner of the Retriever net.
The Retrievers return to action on Friday, October 4, when they host NEC rival Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m.
