PENNACCHIA'S FIRST CAREER GOAL LIFTS MEN'S SOCCER OVER QUINNIPIAC, 1-0

Hamden, CT--Sophomore defender Mike Pennacchia scored his first career goal with 18:30 to play, as UMBC (5-4-2, 2-0-1 NEC defeated host Quinnipiac, 1-0, in an NEC game in Hamden, CT. With the win, UMBC extended its unbeaten streak to three games.

The Retrievers took advantage of a Quinnipiac red card late in the first half, and poured the heat on the Bobcat goal, oushooting them, 11-2 in the second half. With 18:30 to play, Matt McGowan's corner kick from the left side skipped across the six yard line, where a charging Pennacchia knocked it under QU netminder Conor Shilcock-Elliott. UMBC goalkeeper Brian Rowland made one save to record his fourth shutout of the season.

UMBC takes on a hot Central Connecticut squad on Sunday.
