Rob Nelson

Rob Nelson joined the sports performance staff in July, 2022.

Nelson comes to UMBC after a stint as interim director of strength and conditioning at Wofford College. He oversaw all program design and implementation for eight programs, including the nationally-ranked baseball team.

Prior to his tenure at Wofford, Nelson served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at at St. Francis (Pa.) University. He also worked with a nationally-ranked program in Loretto, as he oversaw the women’s water polo squad.

Nelson also worked with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2018-19 campaign.

He earned his B.S. in health and physical activity degree at the University of Pittsburgh in April, 2017 and his M.S. in health science at St. Francis in April, 2022.
