Jaime Kosiorek

Jaime Kosiorek has been tabbed as the first hire by new UMBC Volleyball coach Kasey Crider. She began her duties as assistant coach in March 2022

“Ultimately, as with everything else, hiring a staff comes back to what the girls deserve. They deserve a coach who is invested in both them as players and themselves as a coach. Jaime is an embodiment of those two ideals," said Crider. "She is willing to do whatever is necessary to make the experience of the women in our program great, and make herself better as a coach.  It is with great warmth and gratitude that I welcome her and her fiancé Sam into Retriever Nation.”

Kosiorek, who competed at both the NCAA Division I and overseas professional levels as a player, comes to the Hilltop after spending the 2021 season as an assistant coach at Duquesne.

“I am extremely excited and honored to be joining the UMBC volleyball family,” said Kosiorek. “Kasey is highly respected among established coaches in the volleyball community and I am grateful to work alongside him to execute his vision for this program. I am eager to build off this program’s recent championship seasons and help elevate the Retrievers to further heights. “

The Chagrin Falls, Ohio native came to DU after serving as a volunteer assistant at Cincinnati in 2020-21.

Kosiorek played collegiately at Ohio U., where she earned a spot on the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team in helping the Bobcats to a 16-0 conference record (23-6 overall) in 2014.

As a sophomore, Kosiorek played in all 33 matches for Ohio's MAC championship team, finishing the season with 15 kills and six digs in a loss to No. 11 BYU in an NCAA Championship First Round match.

She went on to earn honorable mention All-MAC honors in 2016.

A team captain in 2017 & 2018, she came back from an ACL injury to earn second team All-MAC honors in 2018.

Kosiorek, who finished her final season ranked 11th nationally in career service aces with 53, completed her career as Ohio's all-time service ace leader with 173. Her 1,380 kills were the fifth-most in program history.

She went on to play professionally for Brondby Volleyball Club in Denmark in 2019-20.

A multiple-time Academic All-MAC honoree, Kosiorek completed her undergraduate degree in education in 2018 from Ohio U.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT COACH KOSIOREK

“What an exciting hire for UMBC! Jaime is an amazing young coach and leader. She has a passion for the sport and a passion to help young women grow which is an important element to the collegiate athletic experience. Strong work ethic and loyalty are two key qualities of successful assistant coaches and Jaime certainly possesses both.“

Molly Alvey, Head Coach, University of Cincinnati Women’s Volleyball

"I'm excited for Jaime to have this opportunity at UMBC and can't wait to see what she can add to the program. Her competitive fire drove her to great successes as a player, and I am looking forward to seeing her guide the women on the UMBC team to new successes as well!"
