UMBC Head Women's Soccer Coach Rick Stainton announced the hiring of Maryland native Hailey Williams as an Assistant Coach in July of 2024.
"Please join me in welcoming Hailey Williams to our staff!" Hailey brings a great combination of successful playing and coaching experience to our program. In addition, she is a high-character, hard-working person who will relate very well and contribute much, on and off the field, for us. We are excited to get her involved in all aspects of the program."
Williams previously was the Director of Coaching and Executive Director of the Maryland-Elite Soccer Club. She managed all club executive and administrative duties, including program organization, registration creation, goal identification and implementation, finance management, field and facility coordination, sponsor relationships, and marketing and branding.
As Director of Coaching, Williams created a year-round curriculum for player development, recruited and managed the coaching staff, trained the coaching staff, engaged in strategic tactical planning, and fostered a positive and effective learning environment. Additionally, she served as the head coach of the U18, U19, &U23 teams.
Williams enjoyed a four-year career at Stetson University, where she started 46 career games in the midfield. She graduated Cum Laude in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and received a double minor in sociology and business law.
A native of Saint Leonard, Maryland, Williams is a 2015 graduate of Calvert High School and was a first-team All-Academic all four years and first-team all-conference and all-county as a sophomore, junior, and senior. She helped lead the team to three one-loss seasons and a state championship in 2014. Williams recorded 52 career goals and 100 career assists, including 26 goals and 47 assists as a senior. As a senior, she was first-team All-State, was named All-MET, captured the NSCAA Senior Excellence Award, and was the conference and county player of the year.
Williams received a "Premier" Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches in 2022 and an "Advanced National" Diploma in 2021. She obtained her "B" License from the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2023 after previously receiving an "E" License, a "D" License, and a "C" License.
