David Stockum

David Stockum completed his second season on the UMBC women’s soccer coaching staff after joining the program in July of 2015. Stockum works primarily with the team’s goalkeepers.

Stockum was a four-year letterwinner and goalkeeper with the University of Louisville men’s soccer team. The Cardinals earned a pair of BIG EAST regular-season championships during Stockum’s tenure. During his senior campaign, UofL was ranked the top team in nation and made a run through the NCAA Tournament before falling in the national championship game to Akron. Stockum graduated with a degree in sports administration from Louisville in 2011.

After taking a brief hiatus from the sports industry following his playing career, Stockum signed on as the Director of Goalkeeping and the Director of Tournaments for the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy in 2013. The Fairfield, Ohio, native designed and administered club-wide training programs for goalkeepers, including physical and psychological training methods in order to maximize performance, while also managing day-to-day procedures for pre and post tournaments for college, high school and youth teams. Stockum furthered his tutelage experience by serving as an assistant coach for the Cincinnati State Community College men’s soccer team in 2014.
