UMBC Head Women's Soccer Coach Rick Stainton announced the hiring of Bill Reno as Assistant Coach on July 3, 2024.

"In searching for the ideal candidate, there are many qualifications I was seeking," Stainton said. "However, most importantly, I was seeking an experienced coach who will go above and beyond for our student-athletes to assist the program in achieving greater heights and contribute to our continued development. Bill checks the boxes!
We welcome him to the Hilltop!"

Reno has served as an Assistant Coach at George Washington from spring 2022 until fall 2023. He oversaw the defensive responsibilities for the entire lineup and was heavily involved in scouting and recruiting.

In addition to his time at George Washington, Reno enjoyed a stint with FC Cincinnati of the MLS during the summer of 2023. With FC Cincinnati, Reno's duties included working as a video analyst, coaching academy and second-team goalkeepers, and scouting youth talent in MLS Next. Before his time in Cincinnati, Reno was an assistant with the University of Connecticut men's soccer program. At UConn, Reno worked with the Huskies' goalkeepers and was involved in the program's talent scouting, game plan development, and day-to-day operations.

A former goalkeeper at Harding University and Texas A&M, Reno has a strong connection to his position. After graduating, Reno worked with various schools as a goalkeeping coach. He served as the Goalkeeper Director of Arlington Soccer Academy, and head coach at Texas Spirit Club Soccer. Additionally, Reno worked alongside former Houston Dynamo and US Women's National Team goalkeeper coach Paul Rogers to evaluate top goalkeeper talent for the Dynamo. He also spent time at Texas Woman's University, Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas State.

Reno started all 16 games in goal during his senior year in 2009, setting single-season records. He graduated with a BA in Social Science.
